I'm not going to say her room is the worst I have ever seen it. And we've all seen it looking pretty bad. Let's just say it's slasher-movie scary and leave it at that.
Now that she is home for the summer we are making some adjustments to our daily routine. For one thing, we are taking some bike rides together, which is awesome, and we are learning to look the other way when it comes to the condition of her room, which will help the family dynamic immensely.
But probably the biggest change is that Susan and I will once again be sharing a car for the summer. Although it is less convenient than having a third car, it is also a lot less costly, which is the major consideration at the moment. And if the weather would just cooperate, it will also mean more bike-to-work days for me, or Susan, or maybe both of us. Anytime we can improve our health while saving energy it is an excellent thing.
But back to the car, I've already had to do my first readjustment of the driver's seat and rear-view mirror. We've already had our first disagreement over car temperature (I wanted the heat on and she rolled down a window) and let's not even talk about musical preferences. Luckily Joey is glued to his iPod, which he found a month after losing it pushed way, way down in the side of the couch, so his car issues are minimal.
Glad my daughter is home for the summer. Hope our attitudes are as adjustable as the driver's seat.
