Yesterday was an awesome day. Shoe shopping followed by a bike ride. It just doesn't get much better than that.

Of all the things you can shop for, shoes are the best. You can find shoes that are practical, whimsical, sporty or sexy. There is a shoe for just about every mood and every budget. The "buy one get one half off" sale was going on at Shoe Carnival, and if there's one thing I like better than a pair of new shoes, it's two pairs of new shoes!

And finding a shoe that fits and flatters is so much easier than finding, oh, let's say a swimsuit. (I went swimsuit shopping over the weekend, not nearly as much fun. In fact, I don't think fun was involved at all.)

Then, before Joey got back from school, I took the bike out for 16 miles. A little windy, but I'm not complaining. I felt energetic the rest of the evening and I'm sure it's because of the bike ride.

It would be difficult for today to live up to the fun of yesterday, but apparently I am good for two in a row.

First of all, I rode my bike to work for the first time this year. Do you ever arrive at work and find yourself trying to wake up and frantically looking for the nearest caffeine IV? Not a problem for me today. I'm awake. I've got a few endorphins floating around in my brain. I am ready to go.

And after work Rick and I spent about 3 hours planting my new blueberry bushes that arrived early. It took us until almost dark to plant all six bushes following the very specific instructions that came with them (holes 15 inches deep, 20 inches wide and filled not with dirt, but a peat-moss, pudding-like mud that we mixed ourselves).

Maybe planting blueberry bushes doesn't sound like fun to you (or to Rick, since he had to take an ax to some stubborn old tree roots that were in the exact spot where I wanted the fifth bush). But, I am so excited about the fresh blueberries to come. I can almost taste them.

And to top it all off, we've decided as a family to give up TV for the month of April. Well, Rick and I decided and Joey has no choice but to go along. We are giving him one DVD selection on Friday nights, otherwise, no TV.

Tonight after we cleaned up from the planting extravaganza, Joey and Rick were huddled together over the Guinness Book of World Records and I was able to read the newspaper in peace without some annoying cartoon character laughing or yelling in the background.

April should be an excellent month.
