My bike ride today wore me out, so today's Movie Monday post will be short. Frequency. Excellent murder mystery, plus family bonding over baseball and a "the future is not set" aspect (think Terminator or Back to the Future) with things happening in 1969 that greatly impact the lives of people in 1999.
Basically a man living in 1999 talks with his father who is living in 1969 on an old fashioned ham radio. He tries to save his Dad's life (and others) by sharing information that is -- for his Dad -- from 30 years in the future.
Watched it with Rick and Joey (PG13, we had Joey look away at some gruesome photos and one crime scene). I had to help explain the plot to Joey a little, but when we got to the unsolved murders he said, "Now this is really getting interesting." Not sure I'd recommend it for most 9-year-olds, but it is a thinking man's movie.
For all you baseball fans, the Amazing Mets are the glue that holds it all together. A plot with lots of twists and turns. Rick said he picked up more watching it this time, little details, that he missed the first two times.
Great script. Dennis Quaid and James Caviezel are excellent as well as the supporting actors. If you haven't seen it, put it in your queue. It gets three thumbs up from the Lauries, and it's rare that we all agree on a movie. (Hmm, not sure what Susan would think of it. I'll have to ask her.)
